Tuesdays with Morrie

Lately I have reading this book called "Tuesdays with Morrie" and I just want to share about it in my blog as it has indeed touched my heart at times.

Very inspirational, it is. Those who have read this book sure knows what I mean. I always like Mitch Albom's books. They are meaningful and left you thinking about life. "Tuesdays with Morrie" is talking about the author's experience with his uni lecturer, whom he spends time with him every Tuesday till his final days.

"Love each other or perish"
The above quote is Morrie's favourite. I find it to be very true, especially on the racist saga that is going on nowadays. Why we just cant live with one another peacefully and respect one another? I guess everything happens for a reason.
This book also talks about forgiveness, marriage, family, fear of aging....one of my favourites is "Forgiveness".
" Forgive yourself before you die. Then forgive others."
In the book, it says 'there is no point in keep vengeance or stubborness'. I agree. Sometimes we tend to regret only when the person is going to die or already died. Just like only after the singer died, the cd sales went up and everything suddenly becomes a limited edition. Haha... well, I guess life is just like tat.
Sometimes while I am reading the book, my tears will nearly roll down. And I can imagine how more touching it will be, if it is made into a movie.
Good stuff, manz.

11 days of fun and 10 nights of serenity

2 weeks ago, Jeremy and myself just came back from Switz. Although its been around 4 years since I was there, its beauty and serenity still remain.

We were really excited to go on our first trip ever. Emirates is our choice of flight as we got a ridiculously cheap airfare (less than $1k, can you believe it?!). The flight there was alright. Everything is normal till when we board the flight from Dubai to Zurich. I guess its the new Airbus, thus got the new entertainment system called ICE (Information, Communication?, Entertainment). They have the latest movies (which you can watch from the start), games and the LATEST albums! Yeah, you dont have to stick to the airplane music. You can actually listen to all the songs in an album. How cool is that, manz! okie, I am actiing like a real 'swa koo'. Hey, I am NOT a frequent flyer, you know. :P

Anyway, it was nice. When we reach Zurich, it is nice to have a change of weather. Cool weather. Our 1st stop is Chur. As we arrived on a Sunday, it was like a ghost town cos the shops do not open on Sunday. It took us quite some time to find our budget hotel. Budget hotel it is, but the room is really, really nice. (sorry, no pics to prove my point) Not only the rooms are nice, the beds are a darling too. Cos its damm comfy manz! The quilts, the pillows...it is like lying on a bed full of cotton! :D (And no, we did not jump on our beds)

Ok, I am also going to sing praise for their breakfast too. For all the 10 nights in Switz, we ate cheese, bread, cheese, bread, pasta, cheese, bread again. O well, its Switzerland! The land of cheese! Geez! Hee Hee! The breakfast was nice. Havent taste the finest cheese ever! Anyway, we sleep at 8+ at night and wake up at 7+ in the morning. How nice is tat, manz! Everyone in Switzerland has this kind of sleeping pattern. No wonder the people there dont seem to have dark eye rings.

We parked ourselves in Chur for 3 nights. We visited St Moritz and St Gallen as well. If you are looking at nice historic buildings with arty farty facades, St Gallen is theeee place! Took some nice pics there (Sorry, pics not ready yet!). St Moritz, I guess is more of a ski place. It was autumm so did not really visit those ski resorts.

2nd stop was Interlaken. We parked ourselves at Backpackers' Villa for 3 nights there as well. It was a tourist-infested place definitely. Saw a lot of Asians too. The best thing is that everywhere is quite tourist-friendly. As for the hostel, everything is written on the walls, tables, maps to show you where to go etc. Fantastic! We visited Lucerne and Grindelwald. I have to say something about Grindelwald. Its our first hiking trip. A REAL hiking trip. We walked around for about 5 hours to reach the next cable station. The scenery was really really unbelievable!! Blue skies, mountains with green fields, moo moo cows with bells (who seem to react well with tourists as if trained), lakes etc. Fantastic scenery!

Arty-farty nostalgic is what I am going to describe Lucerne. You know Picasso? The museum is there but I did not have the opportunity to go in. No time. Anyway, there are swans and duckies at the lake and they are not at all afraid of humans! But I did not touch them. Tempted to. Cos their feathers are so nice. :) Darn! Its a fantastic place, manz!

Oh yah! Forgot to mention. They have a bicycle lane for cyclists! How I wish SG roads have it manz. Anyway, our next 3 nights was spent in Vevey. It is not really a tourist place but it is near to Chillon Castle which we wanted to take pics. Its also our 1st castle trip. Considering that every room is big, you can imagine how big the castles are in Scotland. Well, it is kinda a small castle compared to its cousins. Bought my most expensive T-shirt at a souvenir shop situated there. CHF 39 ($53) Hiaks! Just the tot of it just broke my heart sometimes. I just have to console myself that hey! its a souvenir! :S. I also brought my love to Lausanne. Ate MACs that cost us CHF 12.90 on an average.

Excitement. Peace. Affection. Adventure. Love. Friendly. This is what I am going to describe our Switz trip. The people there is really friendly, saying a 'Hi' whereever you go. :)

But of course, it is definitely great to experience all this with my loved one. Thank you, love. I have a wonderful adventure with you...Looking forward to our next one. :)
